Well, probably not from Roland! Despite ours being the largest Roland arranger forum in English, they have never once directly communicated with us. Nor anyone else, AFAIK. The CIA could learn a lot about security from Roland!

@ Admin

Please, can there be a change to the forum to prohibit spammers ?

Perhaps another way to script spammers using a method like a captcha ?

It is really annoying the last week.

We already have a full captcha system in place.

If you notice, it is generally ONE person doing this, it isn't a bot (not until the spammer gets in, then I think he has some software to auto-generate the posts themselves). So the normal captcha routines can't stop this (they are designed to stop bots).

I am on most every day banning the spammer, but basically, unless the forum goes to an interview system, and we prevent anyone posting until they are vetted, there's not a lot we can do.

And sorry, but if YOU think it's a pain, just think about what I have to go through!

Diki, I know that.
I hoped that the Admin has an option / alternative to prohibit this kind of misuse.

There really is no way to stop a live spammer without stopping legitimate new people from posting immediately.

It's tough to be welcoming to new members without also allowing live spammers through the door.

What's the best alternative? Forbidding new members from posting straight away (which won't really stop a non-bot spammer) will make the site unfriendly to genuine arranger players.

We are working on the problem, but currently find it hard to ban spammers without banning genuine users.

New news... Søren, our site owner and admin has now decided to change forum registration to need admin or moderator approval of new members..!

Just heard about this.

Naturally, this slows a new member down from posting immediately, hopefully this won't put new members off that want to post legitimately, but it may allow me to deny member enrollment to those with suspect names and email addresses.

Whether this works any better remains to be seen, after all, these guys seem determined! But hopefully it may help.
