Roland EM2000 With Sonar #355
Hello, I' recently picked up an EM2000. Primitive, I know, but I love the older Roland sound engine. I want to start using Sonar to create the styles for it. Does anyone know which mode I should have the EM2000 in when using it with Sonar? Example: should I put it in song mode, style mode, etc? Also, from what I've seen, there aren't any ins def files for it, but are there any files out there that might be close enough for me to use? Thanks for any help.

You can use both modes - Song or Style. But the Song mode will be correct - then the controller settings from the Style do not affect how the Song sounds from Sonar

What about the midi channels...How would I need to set them up so that there's correspondence between the keyboard and sonar? For example: would I set track 1's midi channel to 10 in sonar, track 2 to midi channel 5, etc? If I remember correctly, when using arrangers in a daw, the midi channel isn't the same number as the track in a lot of cases.

You can set tracks and channels in different ways, but often do it accordingly - 1st track is 1st channel, 2nd track is 2nd channel and so on. And also often do for the drums a few tracks, but they are all on the 10th channel. For example, the 10th track is the 10th channel, the 11th track is also the 10th channel, the 12th track is also the 10th channel. So you can then mix the drum parts by volume - Bass-drum (Kick), Snare Drum, Hi-Hat, Tom, Cymbal etc.

I'm blind, so I won't be able to see any pictures you may be posting. So if I keep the midi channel corresponding to the same midi track, then I import the style into the em2000, it will read all the tracks and channels in their proper place? Also, do you use Roland's Style Creator?
