G-70 version 3 upgrade #6815
Apologies for a tyro question but I'm new to the G-70. I'd be most grateful to know if the upgrade from version 2 to version3 is purely in software, or whether any hardware changes are necessary.
My thanks in anticipation.

No upgrade ever changed the hardware. Late model G70's were identical to the first.

I would recommend hunting around for a Card adaptor and a 1-2GB card for all your user data. It’s a lot easier with all user data in one place, and post V3 there wasn’t that much room left in the internal 50MB data.

I also think the SRX-07 extra sounds card is well worth trying to find one. I found the basses in that one were transformative to the overall sound when used to replace the ROM basses, which are a little thin, IMHO. Or an SR-G01 card might work, although that one has fewer useful sounds I think....
