Roland's "PK" socket #5730
I've recently acquired a PK-6 to learn to kick pedals with and was excited to learn that you can power it and connect it with a PK cable! A quick look at the back of my BK-9, however, has left me annoyed. Roland releases their flagship without the PK socket?

Is this the same as the FC-7? I can't seem to find this information out their on the webs. Also, where can someone get this cable?! My used PK-6 didn't come with such luxury.

Cheers and thanks in advance!

Rick no arranger keyboard has a PK-6 jack. Use a 5 pin midi cable to connect the BK(… If power is needed , the PK6 is battery powered or a dc adapter.

See the Roland PK-6 video:

The manual should explain more about the available connections and what they are used for.

Hi Fran and Willem,

The PK- 6 manual states clearly under MIDI-CONTROLLER MODE "This mode enables PK-6 to transmit MIDI messages to an external Roland backing keyboard or module."

That's why I'm thinking it supposed to connect to their "flagship" arranger keyboard..! I'm not crazy and I have gone through the manual. I was hoping the "PK" socket might be the same as the F7 pedal?

Your assumptions don't trump actual knowledge derived from reading the manuals, Rick!

When one connector clearly says PK Out, another clearly says MIDI Out, and the BK's inputs clearly say FC-7 In and MIDI In, any assumption that the PK out has anything to do with the FC-7 In is clearly wrong!

p.11 of the PK manual clearly indicates which Roland products have PK sockets (C-200 Roland AT-350C, AT-900C, V-Combo, etc.) and makes no mention of using the connector on any Roland arranger, BK, etc.. In fact, the manual clearly states on p.12 "Connecting the PK-6 to an external MIDI device: You can use your PK-6 as a MIDI controller for a MIDI tone generator (Roland arranger keyboard, synthesizer, sound module, etc.)," and goes on to show you using the MIDI connector for "BK-7m, BK-5, JUPITER-80 (or any other MIDI-compatible instrument with an internal tone generator)".

Pretty damn clear, I'd say!

Don't feel bad...! We've all been down this road.

PK-6 manual up here: roland-arranger.com/index.php/miscellane...anuals?start=15#5742

The trick is to read them slowly and methodically. A lot of important stuff gets put in the fine print!
