'ENDING' button on Roland BK9 #5586
How does the BK9 determine the number of bars to play after pressing the ending button. I play for ballroom dancing and it's vital to finish within the next bar (otherwise the dancers think you're starting another sequence).

P.S. I couldn't help but notice the PSR S975 has a one bar ending button.

How long an ending takes depends on the variation in the rhythm. How many bars exactly the Ending takes you can read in the first line of the screen, for example. M: 004.1 from then on it counts back four bars. There are also endings with only 1 or 2 bars. It is usually the shortest for Variation 1 and the longest for Variation 4.

Ending1 is always (pretty much!) 1 bar.

Ending2 follows your chords during the pattern.

Ending 3 has a pre-programmed chord structure, but no solo.

Ending 4 has a preprogrammed chord structure (but not necessarily the one from Ending3) and a solo, so pretty much self contained and needs no input from you.

Endings 2/3/4 vary in length per style (and are often different length to each other), so you probably need to write down how long they are and put it in the title of the Performance as a reminder of which to use. Try 'Song Title E3/8' to denote 'Ending3 8 bars long'...
