Life after the VA7 #5604
I have purchased the Roland BK9 from Perth (3,500 kms the other side of Australia). My brother-in-law checked it out and was most favorably impressed. I paid Australian $1,100 which equates to 75% of the cost of a new EA7.

Many thanks to all who contributed to the post, especially to you, Diki and Fran. I followed the advice offered and are very happy with the outcome.

That is one hell of a bargain, if Roland model prices are equivalent in Australia. Good condition BK9’s are about the price of a new EA7 (street) here in the States.

Feel free to start a new thread about any issues or questions you have and we will do our best to get you up to speed as quickly as possible. Your styles from the VA7 should be compatible with a bit of tweaking, but your performance lists will not be and will need redoing.

If you don’t already have one, buy a nice USB2 64GB stick (no security partitions). Format it in the BK.

Congratulations on getting yourself what I consider the greatest arranger Roland ever made! While some aspects of it are a step back from the G70 or E80, the things it added, like the chord sequencer, the audio capabilities, the SN guitars and 5 MFX allow a far better final result. And being 25lbs lighter doesn’t hurt!
