Roland Lyric Viewer alternatives? #5411
I have no idea why (the BK-9 Editor and BK Partner apps are still up), but it appears Roland have discontinued the Lyrics Viewer app...

This makes ZERO sense to me! I might understand the BK-9 Editor going away (BK-9 is discontinued), but, as far as I know, the Lyrics Viewer app is still the only way to display lyrics on an iPad from a connected BK5/3 and E-A7 (all still in production).

But, with this the apparent state of things, and knowing how reluctant Roland are to correct mistakes(!), does anyone know of an alternative to the Lyrics Viewer app for iPad? I know there are things like OnSong where you can add PDF’s, TXT’s, etc., and Link them via PC/32/00 codes to the Performance of the song, but because I’ve already done all the work and embedded lyrics in my SMF’s and MP3’s (and I’d rather not have to do it all over again!), I’m looking for an app that simply connects to the BK and displays whatever it outputs...

I’m afraid I think I goofed, and sprung for a new iPad primarily to be able to display lyrics when using the BK-7m, and now I find myself unable to use it for that task! So if anyone can rescue me and point me to an app that does what Lyrics Viewer does, I’d be much obliged...

In the meantime, I encourage EVERYONE with a BK series or E-A7 to contact Roland and demand they re-up the app as it still has relevance to products that are still in production....

Thank you.

Diki - I agree with all the above. I almost hate to admit this, but, in July,(2018) after a gig, I LOST my iPad 1. (long story but it's gone and 'find my iPad' tells me no one is using it!, in a wi-fi zone anyway) so.... in August I got a (I think) Gen 3 Macbook Air and to my disbelief, find that the app has discontinued. So, I too, am wondering what app could possibly display my BK-9 lyrics. and yes, it would be so nice if it worked on an iPhone. It's all you need.

If you downloaded the app to iTunes before installation, I think that iTunes may have a backup of the installer on your computer. As long as the new iPad is synced to the same iCloud account,, you may be able to reload the app. At least, that's how I think it works.

Maybe you can help me, Tim? Pretty new to the iPad universe, so unsure if this can be done, but I have a friend with the Lyrics Viewer app on his iPad, and I know he doesn't use it. Is there any way to 'transfer' the app from his iPad to mine (not 'copy' it, as the iPad is pretty bombproof as far as preventing illegal copying of apps) so it is no longer on his iPad?

I basically understand what you're saying - but the bottom line is Lyrics Viewer does NOT work on a modern iPad.
If you have an earlier iPad, I think the app store will recognize that and it will show up on the app store - if it's a newer iPad, it won't.

I'm not an expert but I don't think you can 'transfer' the app from his iPad to mine'

Anyway - newer iPad it won't work. Older iPad you can get it for free. IMHO

Are you sure the app is still available for older iOS’s?

I looked from a regular browser to the App Store, and the app did not appear to be there for any iOS. Also, the BK Partner app is still available, and works on my brand new iPad. I believe that BK partner, and lyric Viewer came out at the same time.

I have downloaded the BK Partner and BK-9 Editor apps, they appear to work perfectly.
