Bk-7m Style Section Lengths #50
Hello Everyone,

I am glad this forum is back up, and accepting new users.

I'm a new Bk owner. I'm a guitarist, and I bought my Bk for practicing, and jamming. I knew before I bought the Bk that it was a "real-time" arranger, meaning that it must be connected to a MIDI controller to "play" the arrangements. No, problem, as I am also a software engineer, and I planned from the start to write a PC application to play the Bk. I've had some success with the program (and a lot of fun writing it), it is functional, and I consider it about 65% complete.

My question is: Does anyone know of a spreadsheet that has the length of the style parts of the internal styles and the styles from the Bk Extra Styles thumb drive? I actually don't need the lengths of the main or fill in sections as much as the intros and ending for each style. Or, does anyone know if this info can be programmatically read from the style files (e.g. by some software, without having to go through each style manually)

Thanks

John

Unless you can find a PC BK style editor (does anyone know if EMC software reads BK format?) I'm afraid you are very much down to going in and doing it by hand,

TBH, I'd say it is faster to play the Intro/Endings and count rather than menu through page after page to find the Division length..!

Mind you, I am Mac only, so perhaps there is a PC program that can do this. I just haven't seen one yet...

BTW I found this: github.com/std66/RolandStyleReader

Which is probably only useful to programmers. It reads Roland styles, but seems to list the style parts in some older format (e.g. "intro", "fill to original", "fill to variation"). It's possible I'm reading older files, since I'm using the Bk LB01 Extended styles as the source.

Do you know where I can get the Bk-7m factory styles as disk files?

Hello,

I found a couple of programs online that got me started, notably "Roland Style Viewer" which thankfully had the source code. Unfortunately the source was VB6, so spent a bit of time converting the the code to C#. The next step is to figure out how to calculate the intro and ending section lengths from the blocks of performance data.

Does anyone have the internal factory Bk Styles in .stl files or know where I can get them?

I could find some (original?) styles from the BK-7m on the legacy forum 2005.
Look here in the new Files section, please.

Roland E-80 V2.03 + SRX-06 + SR-G01, FC-7, PK-5, SC-8820 and EMU Xboard61.

Hi Willem,

Thanks for your reply. I don't see a files section on the 2005 forum. can you send a link? Also are you sure that these are the same as the internal Bk styles? The guy who "borrows" factory styles for his VArranger software seems to have the factory styles...

Thanks

No, I do not know for sure if they are 100% original factory, but you can check it out.

That vArranger stuff, you need to have a "vArranger licence" to be able to get them there.
