technical problem with bk-9 #5709
Greetings Roland Fans,

I am pleased to be (finally) working cooperatively with the new keys ever since DIKI took the time to give me some guidance on my over-zealous approach! Thanks again, friend.

I am having an intermittent issue with hanging notes. I am unable to isolate the issue to a file, channel, keyboard part, tone, etc. Sustain of keyboard occurs and resolves without predictable action. So far only time this seems to occur during a session is after I have engaged the use of the pitch bender/modulation.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Also, I am trying to ascertain if there is an assignable foot switch parameter that will switch up and down the 4 variations. I only find one assignable switch at a time unless a Roland FC-7 (that is a multiple switch foot pedal, correct?) is utilized.

Thanks for any suggestions,

The very first thing I would check if you are having hanging notes is your sustain pedal itself. Do you have another sustain pedal you can try? If the problem repeats itself with another pedal, the next thing you might check is the sustain pedal jack in the keyboard.

Another thing to check is whether there is any strain on the cable. Is the cord too short? I can’t honestly say I have had this problem with my BK-9, except when I use a faulty, or dirty sustain pedal.

I generally recommend that all Jack’s going into keyboards be right angle ones. These put a lot less stress on the input jack it self, which leads to greater reliability. If they aren’t already, I highly recommend changing your cables to the right angle type, at least for the end of the cable that goes in the keyboard.

As to going through the variations with the pedal, you really need a multiple pedal to do this. I do not believe there is a variation up/down command for the pedals. If you can’t find an FC7 (out of production) a Korg EC5 will work once you change the end plug (I think there’s a company that makes an adapter, but it’s a bit pricey).

Two regular foot switches could be wired to do Perf up/down but AFAIK there’s no Variation up/down...

Keep an eye out for a good used FC7 or EC5!
