:woohoo:
With the death of Cakewalk/Sonar, is there anyone who could answer this question? My new Roland G-8oo replacement (Roland E-A7) arrived 4 days ago. It is vastly different and has caused me to redesign my 22 year old studio. Recording into Sonar 7 has to be changed and I remembered from many years ago that I used to play the arranger, with backing instruments, directly into Cakewalk 4.5 and it would automatically distribute each channel to its own track. I haven't needed to do this in many years and, now with the Sonar 7 manuals, I can't find a way to resurrect this. This is critical to my whole system. With the G-800, I'd record the MIDI data to the Roland on board floppy and then load that into Sonar. The E-A7 will only allow writing audio to the on board flash drive.

This is kind of Roland user related ... anyone know?

Thanks

I don't know Sonor, but with many other sequencers, you can record to a single track, and then 'explode' or 'expand' the one multi-channel track into multiple single channel tracks afterwards.

Thanks, Diki.

I made a template with 16 tracks. I then ganged the "Record Arm" button on all tracks and assigned each track to its own channel. Arm/disarm one track and they all follow. Each instrument coming in on its own channel goes to the proper track ... solved ;)

The PM function has been inoperative for quite some time.

If you want your profile removed (are you getting spam or any real reason to have it taken down?) try posting something with 'ATTN Admin: Profile removal request' in the Subject.

Mind you, if you have been keeping up with the posts here, you may have noticed that the entire site may end up going down soon.

Problem solved!
