Hi, thanks for the quick reply, yes tried email and checked junk folder
But nothing, I’ve paid with PayPal over a week or so… ill give it another week
And cancel payment, it’s a shame really as it was a very good bit of software
It looks like they have been off- line for a year! so something must have happened

This is somewhat the nature of third party software. It is often a cottage industry, often a labor of love with little chance of paying back the writer for the effort involved. So it is hardly surprising when a niche piece of code gets abandoned.

Let's face it, Roland have been glacial updating the arranger line lately. Sales stagnate without new products, but Roland make it doubly worse by making each new series an almost complete rewrite. So little of the software code for one product can be re-used for the next. Who knows whether Roland will make another module..? It strikes me they have the market to themselves, but have shown zero interest in a new module (the BK-7m dates back to late 2010, early 2011, long overdue for an upgrade).

But you can fairly expect that, should another line arise (the jury is still out on whether the E-A7 is a one off or the start of something new), it will maybe bring forth another software to control it. And, as soon as the initial sales rush is over, it will languish for however many years it takes for Roland to decide to make another arranger.

This is a tough way for a software designer to make a living...

Roland need to succeed before they can, and that looks ever less likely. :(

Hello Aidabab,

we were informed what you posted here.... plelase send us an e-mail with the information about your payment. We checked our PayPal accounts and all customers who paid via PayPal got a license. So perhaps there was a problem with your payment?
Please send us an e-mail or a personal message here in the forum.

Your assumption that we are no longer active is not correct. We stopped our Facebook activities a year ago as we had the impression that FB is a lot of work with nearly no feedback or new information for us. So we decided to spend more effort on other activities (e.g. demo videos of GESINI to help our customers to understand the software better).
Besides GESINI we focused on some other software products for musicians during the last 12 months - but we did not forget GESINI. The new release 1.9 (Oct 2016) is now able to control the volume, pan, patch, etc of each style track of the BK-7m. Even online while you are playing live (with Local off), etc.

I can only apologize if you had problems with our products or service. But if you send us your payment information we will support you as good as we can.

Regards
GESINI Support Team

Is version 1.9 available for download yet?

Yes, V1.9 is available for download and it is free for all users who purchased a license of a former version.

We have not promoted the V1.9 yet as we are currently producing some videos to explain the new features. But of course each customer can download the new version (software.gesini.com) and can use it.

Among many other improvements and features, the online style edit mode is pretty cool. For this mode you have to set the "MIDI Local On/Off" of all 8 style parts to "Local Off" and "MIDI Tx ON". Furthermore you have to set all song parts in the BK to "MIDI Rx On"..
Then you start playing the style at the BK.
The BK sends now MIDI messages to GESINI and GESINI forwards them [back] to the BK. Now you can directly overwrite all volume, pan, reverb, chorus, etc. messages with the values you assign in the GESINI GUI and you can substitute all patches with your own patches.
==> The original CC and PC values are replaced with messages based on the values of the GUI.
Of course this works also for songs and not only for styles.

The advantage compared to a pure hardware solution with an external controller is obvious: As the style sends the patches and controllers quite often (always if a variation re-starts its loop),, your new values would alwlays be overwritten. with the original CC and PC values of the style.

Thank you. When I try to install the new version I am asked to enter serial number. Where I can get it? With previous versions there was special license file but no SN.

Can Gesini work with the E-A7 yet?

Have you had an opportunity to compare sys-ex for the major functions and spotted any significant changes?

I'm also curious about the Local OFF option... what kind of latency are you seeing? Presumably, the MIDI data for the style has to go out to Gesini, get processed, and return to the BK, and yet not introduce any noticeable delay. How well is that working?

Last thought... If you are dealing with the entire MIDI data stream from the BK, this would be the perfect time to think about adding the Chord Sequencer functions to the BK's that don't have it! Personally, I would kill for a CS on my BK-7m!

Hello Diki,

we did not look at the E-A7 yet as it seems not to be sold in high numbers..... if we will see further models of the E-A series, it would make sense to extend GESINI towards the E-A series. As the BK-series and the E-A-series are both based on Roland's GS standard for arrangers, GESINI can be used to control all GS related features right now......

Concerning the latency we did eveerything to make it as small as possible. The software runs with multiple independent thrreads dedicated to individual tasks (one thread for the MIDI input and one thread for the MIDI output. A further thread for the GUI, etc.). On notebooks with multi-coore CPUs or multiple CPUs the latency is not a problem. If the style is very fast and has up to 6 ACC tracks,, the latency becomes an issue on slower PCs. But even when you are in a situation with a noticeable latency, you might not use it forlive playing - but it is still ok for editing the style and adjusting patches and controllers.

We have already thought about the CS. And we will add the CS to the V2.x releases. Of course our CS would be ablto to consider the transpose button :-)

Which makes you far smarter than Roland already!

This issue was also in Korg's CS, and they fixed it with an update almost immediately. Roland? Guess they don't care about THEIR customers...

Feel free to contact me if you want a few good ideas about the CS... Or check my older posts. I think there is much untapped potential that no-one has tried, yet. B)

It's possible that quite a few people on this forum might be interested in Gesini software. I've looked for the cost of this software but I can't find it. The price must be available before anyone can make a decision. Imagine testing the demo and really liking it, only to find that the cost is prohibitive.

The prices can be found on GESINI's website in the shop: shop.gesini.com
Payment with credit cards, wire transfer, PayPal, etc. is possible.

Free demo version for testing is available here: www.gesini.com/demo.html
In the free demo the MIDI Communication is disabled - but you can see all menus, controllers, options, etc.
If you want to test the full version incl. MIDI communications, you can get a temporary license key via e-mail and then you can test the full functionality of GESINI.

Perhaps you'd like to talk to your webmaster about your site, Gesini...

I must admit, I looked around on your English portal, and I too found it very hard to find the link to the shop and the prices. Perhaps a big button with 'Buy Gesini' will help? B)

The more obvious your site navigation is, the easier it is to sell something.

Hi folks, sorry for the delay in getting back on the Gesini software topic
Here goes,… yes I brought it! The full version 1.9 and the code-master dongle option as well
So I can use it on my laptop on gigs, a total of (143 EUR)
But I’m getting nowhere, tried to activate it, it says activated then goes back to demo mode???
Here is the email I got ................
thank you for the feedback.
Now the follwoing steps are required:
• The dongle must be connected to the USB port of your PC.
• You have to overwrite the former license file we sent to you with the new one attached to this e-mail.
• Now you have to install the dongle driver on each PC you want to use to execute GESINI. The dongle driver can be found here: www.wibu.com/uk/downloads-user-software/file/download/2986.html (Ifthis link should not work, you can visit www.wibu.com/uk/downloads-user-software.html and select the driver for your Windows version manually).
• After the dongle driver is successfully instralled and the new license file is copied into the directory of your GESINI.exe, you should be able to run GESINI with the USB key.
In case you have any problems with the key or with your license, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Best regards

Hello Aidabab,

we did not receive your e-mail. At Nov 8th you informed us that you recieved the USB key and at Nov 9th we sent the mail you copied here. But after this mail we did not receive any further e-mail from you. There seems to be a problem with your mails sent to GESINI. If you have a problem with your e-mails sent (perhaps worng address or spam filters. etc.),, you can contact us via personal mail here in this forum. But it makes no sense to ask your personal questions here as other members might not be interested in this.

So please either send us a personal mail via this forum or send us an e-mail. We will confirm any e-mail we get from you within 24 hours. If we do not confirm, a mail you sent, we have not received it and then you can search for other ways to get in touch with us (phone ,fax, PM in forum,...)..

Concerning your request with license error 100 we will send you a personal message here in this forum.

Best regards

New forum member Gesini should not be telling forum members what not to post on this forum. That's Admin's prerogative. Gesini should be concerned about why a forum member is having trouble with Gesini software.

I just suggested to contact us directly and not to communicate via this forum an individual and very specific task.

Because I wanted to avoid posts like

BTW: The problem was solved and Aidabab' software is running. We were actually very concerned about that member having trouble and we tried to help him.

Very happy with Gesini Service department
They sorted out the email prob and the activation for me
The only trouble now is finding the time to test it out
This software works with the Bk5 & Bk9 keyboards as well as the Bk7m
I also own a Bk5 keyboard, so it made sense to get it
I won’t be in my studio for a I week or so,
But when I get back I’ll let you all know how it’s going
p.s thanks cbee for chipping in  :)

Hi there, I see a little uneasiness about Gesini. I assure you they are a good, upcoming business, and Gerd himself has followed up within 1 day on my emails and inquiries. I just now received my new license for GERD v1.95, I updated from v1.6. 'Gerd' is very prompt, courteous and professional. His email is 'This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.'. Simply address to 'Gerd'. Gerd always signs off to me with 'Gerd' and do not hesitate to contact him again if nec.

I have no connection with Gesini at all, just a user of their software for interfacing with my BK-7m. I love it and i can pretty much cut out having to use the wheel, which is a weak point of the BK. In fact I rarely use the wheel at all. Many sessions I never even touch it. The interface with Gesini is terrific. An excellent product.

I hope you all have as good of luck as I have.
Graham

GESINI runs on tablets and/or convertibles - but with Windows and not with iOS.
I agree that a Windows Tablet/Convertible is not an iPad. And we fully understand that an iOS version would be great.

But to be honest: Implementing GESINI for iPad would require a lot of development resources - as we have no experience with the iOS software development (we come from the Windows domain). And would there really be a market to re-finance the development effort - if Roland offers Apps for free?
That's the reason why we offer - at the moment - "only" a Windows version.

I think Roland made a big mistake offering the apps for free. They deincentivized any further development, bugfixes or new apps.

IMHO, no-one with a Roland arranger would have balked at a $20 app, if it offered a touchscreen environment to COMPLETELY control the arranger. Currently, the only Roland app to do voice editing works ONLY with the BK-9, so there goes your entire BK3/5/7m market, and ONLY edits voices, there's no graphical interface for the Makeup Tools, Globals, 16-Track Sequencer or anything else that suffers compared to the G/E series' excellent touch screen.

In fact, I would have happily paid $20 for an editor for each separate element of the OS (sequencer, voice editing, Makeup Tools, etc.) which would have allowed to consumer to purchase only what he needed. But for Roland to offer a half solution at a free price point basically assured that it would die a quick death. The sad thing is, the G70/E80 had an AWESOME fully functional touch screen OS that controlled every last thing. Why on earth wasn't that code ported to a tablet (if Windows only, so be it) to control the BK series?

Watching Roland miss obvious idea after obvious idea for years is ultimately depressing.

Have you considered working with someone that DOES have a good grasp on iPad development?

And it’s never worked right, full of bugs, I purchased the full version with the
Code meter dongle, I’ve used ilok software for years with no problems
It seems to me that they haven’t got there license scheme worked out correctly

They just keep sending me a (.lic file) to put in the tools folder to activate the software??????
Then it says Activated please restart gerd … and then wait for it!! Licence Error 
I cart understand why they don’t send me the proper licence for my code meter dongle??
p.s they very rarely answer my emails :(

Still, Aidabab, as said, this is not the place to post your Gesini software problems!

I.m.h.o. it still could be just your computer / computer installation, which causes trouble.

On the other hand, I think that it doesn't necessarily hurt to have users' experiences out in public, not tucked away on the sub-forum.

For starters, prompt email support is only good business sense. If someone is not supporting their product in a timely fashion, potential customers need to see it (and so does the developer, to show him what needs improving!).

This thread started before we even had a GESINI sub-forum. And there are positive posts about service as well as negative ones.

Sadly, piracy has forced an entire different layer of complexity to using music software in the way of dongles etc.. But, being the new reality, it is incumbent on the vendor to troubleshoot those if he wants to sell the software. And part of troubleshooting it is prompt replies to emails from people with problems.
