Hello I am new to this Group so hope that i am posting in the correct Forum!
1) Does anyone know how to record from my Roland E80 keyboard on to a Flashdrive or via USB?
2) Is there an update to download for this keyboard? I have never updated since I bought it in the year it was released.
If there is an update what does it include?
I would really appreciate your help.'
Thanks!

It adds also MP3 playback, and 15 gold styles.
It is commercial software, and is not available in shops anymore.
Also, Roland has changed all its websites and lots of legacy material is gone.

With the installation of the Roland Arranger driver you can use midi for record.

Or you can use external memory to record songs. (PCMCIA to Compact Flash)

OS V2 only adds MP3 playback, though... He can't record audio with it. I would definitely try to find it and install it, because it at least lets you play along to pre-done audio accompaniment (karaoke tracks or your own recordings, etc.) and adds several things added to the E80 since its original launch (what OS are you currently running, Ivor?).

But he specifically mentioned RECORDING, guys!

For this, Ivor, you are either going to have to use your computer/iPad/Surface and possibly an audio interface (usually, the built-in audio in jacks on computers aren't that great, but will suffice if you just want cheap and dirty!), or consider getting a cheap(ish!) pocket recorder like the ones from Zoom.

For instance, the Zoom H1 (under $100) www.zoom.co.jp/products/h1 or if you want to do overdubbing (add your voice in afterwards, or another instrument or a second pass to play the solo) the Zoom R8 (2 channel record, 8 track playback) for about $300, or even better, the Zoom R16 (8 channel record, 16 channel playback), which would track an entire band to separate channels in one go..! All of these record directly to SD cards, and will transfer the tracks to your computer via USB2.

Don't get confused by the E80's 'Recorder' section. This doesn't record audio, it's a quick way to record MIDI sequences for using in a Sequencer (either the built-in or a computer's). You would still have to record the sequence to audio at some point or another, unless all you want is E80 sequenced backing tracks to use in the E80...

And, normally, I am pretty down on asking for commercial software for free, but given that Roland no longer seem to sell V2 anywhere, no longer support it, and no longer have it anywhere up on any of their sites, I don't think it would be unreasonable to find someone with a copy, and ask them for that. But I would suggest you do it privately, through personal email. I don't want the site here in any trouble hosting the files!

Because IVOR did not specifically wrote audio recording, the word record is
more than just AUDIO in the digital world. Midi recording is one of them.
You can record in midi, edit it, play it back and record the audio... simply said.
Done so often in all those years...

Do not rephrase what is not needed to be rephrased, please, :(

Willem, maybe it's unfamiliarity with English, but generally, MOST people when they say they want to 'record' something, they want to record it to audio. And usually, if musicians want to sequence something, they say 'sequence'...

So how about you leave the moderating to me, and try to consider what more than YOU think.

Not to mention that, to quote
You can record in midi, edit it, play it back and record the audio...
means he is still going to have to record to audio.

You have to consider that the vast majority of arranger users are not professional musicians and audio engineers. Try to speak the language THEY do.
